The villages Gyenes and Diás were united in 1850. It used to be a vine growing community, but the area is still famous for growing grapes and fruit.

Places of interest:

Szent Ilona kápolna -St Helen's chapel is a cemetery chapel built in classical style in 1826. It is a listed building of lesser architectural importance.

Peasant dwelling houses and wine cellars - these beautiful pieces of folk architecture have been preserved. Most of them are holiday homes now. Darnay log cellar is especially important with 1644 carved in the main beam.

In the Shepherd's house, there is an exhibition of local history.

Swimming, bathing: There are two beaches, one with a giant slide, as well as a sailboard and boat rental place.

Places of interest:

The Roman Catholic church is a listed building of lesser architectural importance. It was built in the middle of the last century. There is a stone cross dating from 1848 in front of it.

The traditional dwelling houses used to define the look of the village. Now only three of the thatched, stone houses built in the last century are still standing.

There are several wine cellars built in the last century on Becehegy. They are listed buildings of lesser architectural importance.

Africa Museum

The African explorer and hunter Endre Nagy (1913-1994) returned to Hungary in 1984 and in a renovated mansion, he exhibited his hunters' trophies and folk collection from Tanzania. There is also a small zoo near the mansion.

Büdöskút botanical gardens contain forest patches of varied species planted in 1937. Approach it along Felsőcsetényi utca, on a 5km undulating forest road.

Szépkilátó meaning "beautiful view"

It is the most well-known place in the village. It is nicely arranged with benches, a car park, shops and a restaurant. In clear weather, the whole of Lake Balaton and the Tapolca basin can be seen from here. The black pines were planted by Princess Mary Hamilton, the wife of Tasziló Festetics, and a relative of the English royal family.

Roman spring

At the bottom of the hill there used to be a Roman settlement. The bath was fed by the water of the local spring.

Swimming, bathing: There is a well-appointed beach, with wind surfing, boating and sailing. You can also fish, go horse-riding and play tennis.
