10. 10.05.2004. Junior success: Fecskovics 4th, Gyenesei 14th at the Triathlon World
Championships.
The race started half an hour later than planned in the ocean that was 19 C. The air temperature was 20 C it was a nice summer-like day.
Females started first, they were followed by males after 20 minutes. Our Hungarian triathlete, Leila Judit Gyenesei (Építõk SC., Kaposvár) was the best on the swimming course, she had the second best time. She was also good on the bike course, so she could start running at place 12th and finished at place 14th.
Renata Koch (Mogyi SE.,Baja) was weaker on the swimming and bike course, so although she had the sixth best time on the running course, she could finish at place 21st only.
Among males, Attila Fecskovics (Debreceni Sportcentrum) had the 3rd best time on the bike and the 4th best on the running course. In the second lap of the running he was the leader, but his competitor mates could still accelerate. He finished at place 4th only with a 25-second drawback.
Tamás Nógrádi (Proform TK., Pécs) unfortunately gulped some water in the pushing and shoving  during the swim that had a really bad effect on his later performance.
European ascendancy and the great number of competitors were typical both for the male and female competition.
Because the biking course was extremely hard, there were no leader groups, the field was scattered and never seen differences occurred (more than 20 minutes in both fields) between the first and the last finisher.

9. 10.05.2004. Aquatlon World Championships were a great success this year as they
were last year...
Csaba Kuttor (Buda Cash Team, Kaposvár) won a world champion silver medal among the two best New-Zealanders, whereas Leila Judit Gyenesei (Építõk SC., Kaspovár)- who is only a junior triathlete - and
started the last course from third place after swimming, finished at place seven.
The complex sport including swimming and running is becoming more and more popular among triathletes, because 92 male and 40 female athletes completed the 2,5 km running - 1 km swimming - and 2,5 running course.
